ABOUT ME
Welcome!
Although my approach draws from a variety of models and techniques, all are rooted in the fundamental principles of acceptance and authenticity. My style is active, both in and outside of sessions, as I regularly seek ongoing training to increase my knowledge and skill level as a clinician. My ultimate goal as a therapist is to help you develop knowledge and tools that will facilitate sustained growth long after our work together has ended.
I work with adults and older teens (16+). My clinical focus includes PTSD/trauma processing (including dissociative disorders), anxiety and stress disorders, grief and loss processing, relational boundary work, combatting depression, and I have a special interest in working with families dealing with a dementia diagnosis.
I have extensive training and experience in a wide range of practices and approaches, including Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), EMDR (including Flash Technique), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My work is strongly informed by somatic ("bottom-up") therapies, neurobiology, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, and mindfulness-based practices. Having a background in the arts, I'll sometimes use artistic practices in session, when appropriate, and if desired by the client.
Inclusiveness and cultural competency are strongly held values in my practice. All are welcome, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. Feel free to reach out if you have questions about me or how I work. If I'm not the right fit for you and your needs, I'll help you find another therapist who is.
