EMDR Therapy & the Flash Technique
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma and PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). EMDR incorporates components from a variety of different treatment approaches.
The Flash Technique is a minimally intrusive option that does not require the client to consciously engage with a traumatic memory. It can be used as an adjunct to, or in replace of, EMDR therapy, depending on the needs of the client.
Trauma is experienced differently by different people, depending on a variety of factors. "Big T" traumas include experiences such as abuse, assault, natural disasters, or witnessing a serious accident, but symptoms of traumatic distress can also appear as a result of an accumulation of "little T" traumas, which can sometimes be harder to recognize. They're the daily hurts that can build up over time.
